On the road to our Dream Home

We've Been Framed!!

...and Pete and I are innocent!! haha . Well, what a wonderful surprise we had this afternoon when we drove up to the block and there was a frame standing where once we had skateboarders..ok, so the entertainment value was zero for the neighbourhood kids, but it was like a dream come true for the two of us. The frame has been almost completed, all the windows are in and we even had a front door! Ok, so it's a temporary one, and it wasn't shut, but it's still so exciting!!!! Across the road had their roof done and guttering too by the looks of it, but I saw we had some guttering delivered and maybe that means ours gets done this week...and maybe the roof as well. Walking around inside from room to room, we were very pleased with the size all the rooms are. All in all, things are going well...what more could I ask for?!

Slab down!

Okay, so we now have a slab. The base for our house has been laid and imagine our surprise when we arrived and found a couple of local skateboarders were already enjoying it! There was a ramp set up and they were having a ball. Unfortunately they didn't hang around long enough for us to try and perfect the jump ourselves, but I think they skulked off with their tails between their legs at the fact they were caught in the act! Anyway, that's fine, no damage done and we were pleased that work was done again and it looks great. The local building inspectors were out in force as you can see..oops, no, they are my parents!! Still hard to imagine the size of the rooms, but we can tell where they are meant to be. Thank goodness for that I reckon, otherwise I'd be parking the car in the ensuite and what fun would that be while I'm trying to take a shower in the kitchen and Pete is cooking in the laundry! Ha Ha..gotta have a sense of humour don't we?

Now, If Only The Rain Holds Off

Okay, so what's the chances of no rain falling this week? I'm guessing that there is a zero to zilch chance of that happening..which means...drum roll please......SLAB gets poured Tuesday!!!!! We made our usual trip down to the block today and caught up with our tradie mates there who informed us the concrete was booked to be poured on Tuesday. Pete and I were hoping it had been done during the week, but we aren't too bothered as they have got everything ready, ie reinforcements, that black plastic stuff, all drains seem to be done, wood around the outside (to keep the concrete from oozing out and becoming our neighbours drive-way!) So, we were very happy with the amount that seems to have been done this week. However, the slab has been poured across the road! hellooooo..weren't we first? But I tell you what...ours looks huge! Can't wait to walk around the slab next week..maybe carve our initials in it..haha just kidding! and anyone reading this better not do it either!! or else.. :o)

Man The Trenches!!

We have trenches. We have pipes. We have the feeling the slab is almost ready to be poured!!!
It was great to go to the block today and see that the work had been done. The extra fill had been put where it was needed, and they have marked out what looks like the rooms in the house. I could almost picture where I'll (and Pete too if he's lucky) be sitting in the spa. Once again Pete took heaps of pictures. I forgot to say earlier that the port-a-loo for the builders was on site, and also the Dennis Homes sign. We also have temporary fencing around the front of the site. We seem to be going even keel with the house across the road, although at this stage we seem to be ahead as their trenches haven't been done! We also have our front tap installed and our metre box is up and that gave us an idea of where our garage would be.
It's all getting more and more exciting!!!
